Hello everyone, I’m Perry Reinert, and I’m the Director of Software Development here at Infusionsoft. I just wanted to let you all know about something that we’re very excited about. First, a little background (very little) on software development at Infusionsoft. Software development at Infusionsoft follows many agile development practices (e.g., iterative development, nightly builds, etc.).
We made one change about six months ago that has netted positive results from our development efforts. We formally adopted the Scrum software development methodology. Of course we also compliment that with other agile practices, but the formal adoption of Scrum has really helped get and keep our software development teams focused.
Infusionsoft (and I personally) have become heavily involved in starting the new Phoenix Scrum User’s Group. This user group is brand new and has never met before. Here’s the exciting part, Infusionsoft is hosting this first ever meeting tomorrow night.
What’s amazing about this first meeting, is that we have Ken Schwaber speaking! Ken literally “wrote the book” on Scrum (actually, he wrote 3 books!). He will be doing a presentation titled “Scrum, But…”. This talk addresses a very common comment: “We use Scrum at our organization, BUT because of <some difficulty> we have had to modify Scrum for it to work for us.” Ken will be with us remotely, but LIVE, via video conference. After his presentation, he’ll be available for questions. So come join us, bring your Scrum questions, and get them answered by one of the originators of Scrum and a founder of the Scrum Alliance.
As if Ken is not enough… we’re also fortunate to have Jim Cundiff in person. Jim is the Managing Director of the Scrum Alliance, and he’ll speak about the Scrum Alliance and all that it does and can do for us. He’ll talk about the recent changes at the Scrum Alliance, and he’ll answer any questions regarding the Scrum Alliance.
This will be a great one-time event with a rare opportunity to talk directly with Ken and Jim. If you are interested in coming, we’d love to have you. The official meeting time is Thursday April 2, 2009 from 6:00pm to 8:30pm. That’s only one day away, so register now below!
The meeting is being held at at our office:

2065 W. Obispo Ave.

Infusionsoft will provide complimentary pizza and beverages for our guests who register and attend.
We look forward to seeing you there. This will be a great opportunity to begin collaborating with other people who are interested in Scrum and agile development.
