Facebook Pages are the way to go if you have a business and you want use Facebook. Specifically, I will highlight and explain five key reasons why Facebook Pages deliver value to a business owner.
To minimize confusion, this entry is only about Facebook Pages. Pages are different from Facebook Profiles and Groups; they’re designed for brands and businesses. I’ll break down all the differences in the next entry.
Here are five reasons why you should use a Facebook Page for your business:
Categorizes Your Business AppropriatelyDuring the creation of a Facebook Page, you are guided through choosing the right categories that best describe your business. This is important because when people are searching for a Page, they want to see that you fit into the right category. In addition, Facebook will show that people “Like” businesses from different categories.
Auto-Accepts New Friends (Fans)Unlike a personal profile or group, Pages enable the business to accept anyone who “Likes” them without any human intervention. This is helpful because you can focus on producing great content that attracts people and not approving (or denying) friend requests. This helpful because you can grow your audience and they will instantly receive updates from your Page.
Apps Make Your Page Useful & Interesting & InteractiveFacebook users like to access a business page that’s useful, interesting and interactive. There’s a wide selection of business-grade apps to make any business’ page useful on the Facebook App Directory. One of the more common ones that we’ll uncover is the Static FBML app, which allows customization through HTML.
Insights (Analytics) Like No OtherUnlike traditional web traffic measurement solutions, Facebook provides their own analytics engine for Facebook Page administrators. These analytics don’t just track page views, they provide true insight as to whether you are useful, interesting or just plain annoying to your fans. It’s rumored that
these Insights will evolve to feel more like Google Analytics and make them easier to use.
Increased SEO VisibilityWhile this isn’t exactly a “social” benefit, Facebook pages rank highly on search engines for the content and keywords they have on them. For instance, our Facebook Page has a very frequent use of the word “Infusionsoft.” Given the dynamic nature of the page and keyword density, your business will be hitting the first page of search engines in no time.
There are likely more reasons why you should create a Facebook Page for your business. When it comes down to it, it will give a window into your company, your brand and give tools and resources to your customers. Your Page should provide as much benefit to branding as it does for lead generation. Remember, not all your fans are necessarily customers or prospects — make it valuable for anyone who cruises on by.
