One of the hidden gems in our software is the Infusionsoft API. Briefly, this means Infusionsoft can cooperate with third-party applications and process incoming data for a wide variety of uses. Many customers probably aren’t aware of the number of ways to leverage the sheer awesomeness of the API. I’ll share 19 nifty ideas on how successful small business owners can use the API.
Application Programming Interfaces are known as “APIs” for short. People tend to use APIs to allow an application talk to another application for transferring data. APIs are implemented from the documentation or the “schema” of the API so developers can code their system to work with our system. Simply put, APIs are like translators that interact with the outside world, yet maintain the integrity of all the data and security within your application.
We receive two main questions from clients with regard to the API:
- “How can I make Infusionsoft work with…?”
- “What can I do with the API?”
19 Ways to Use the Infusionsoft API:
- Adding new contacts into Infusionsoft
- Pulling contacts from Infusionsoft
- Adding orders into Infusionsoft
- Pulling invoices from Infusionsoft
- Integrating with premium membership Web sites
- Run your own custom reports with Infusionsoft data
- Creating People Tags (formerly, “Groups”)
- Creating continuity programs
- Sending e-mail through Infusionsoft via API
- Manage your affiliates, check commissions and access essential information (Affiliate module)
- Manage leads and check their status
- Create service call tickets (Help Desk module)
- View which associated campaigns contacts are in
- Custom front-end interface to manage contacts which doesn’t require logging into Infusionsoft
- Billing operations like charging payment methods
- Automate fulfillment needs with third parties
- Custom access to back up quite a bit data within Infusionsoft
- Access and manage the Calendar such as appointments and tasks
- Integrate with third-party shopping carts
These aren’t the only ways to use the API, as it’s completely up to your imagination. We’re also working on newer methods on how developers use the API. We can’t promise dates, but rest assured we’re incorporating our developer feedback to improve the API. This will coincide with an updated SDK for developers later this year.
As a small business owner, you don’t need (nor do we expect) you to learn programming or necessarily understand the APIs themselves. We encourage clients to contact custom development work within our Partner Resource Center. Our Infusionsoft Partners are experts and can give you the results you want.
