Liveblog:
Brad Martineau (9:15a) : Small business owners need to seriously look at their business. Lock themselves away and objectively look at their business.
Brad (9:30a): Explaining the Wowing Welcome Sequence to customers step-by-step. It’s something every small business owner can do right now to improve their business.
Clate Mask (9:45a): Tailored concessions like gift cards ($50) truly impress customers. Not for everyone, but one example of leaving a lasting impression on clients. (Example: Buying a house, you would give out Home Depot or Lowes gift cards.)
Brad (9:50a): Automating the lead-warming process. Ask your users questions, solicit their feedback in the educational process. Automate the education at different intervals. Free up your sales representatives to be closing.
Clate (9:55a): Amazed at the automated marketing follow-up. I simply translated what I used on the phone and put it into helpful e-mails for our prospects.
Brad (9:58a): For better follow-up techniques, we will be offering new ways for clients to do things from custom dates, like appointments. (Not yet, but soon…)
Brad (9:59a): NWA: Nurture, Wow, Automate. Start with one basic sequence so you can make a different. Write some information, share their problems and issues, so you can connect with them.
Clate (10:01a): Responding to the question about templates… advised to take a look at our pre-loaded sample content and use that as a baseline and build from that.
Clate (10:02a): Use multimedia: not just e-mail. Blend it with postal mail, fax, phone and more. That will make a follow-up sequence a success.
Clate (10:06a): I would recommend spending resources on the follow-up rather than the immediate questions. Presumptively (from Brad), anyone who needs an answer right away, those are ready for closing.
## Break 10:07a, back in 15min. ##
## Break ending soon, ETA: 5min ##
Clate (10:27a): Sharing the purpose of the Marketing Revolution tour. It was launched by helping customers (frustrated ones at that)… then went to Infusioncon 2008. We realized it was a way to make our product better, provide more help and resources and help people get infused.
Clate (10:31a): We [entrepreneurs] have seen how manual labor hurts our relationships, time with our family and adds a ton of stress. It’s difficult for small business owners to have a life, we understand. We are here to champion that you can have a life AND run a small business.
Tyler Garns (10:43a): Talking a bit our Twitter, our Blog. Talking about multiple software systems for small business. Bridging into All About Spelling, and growing business.
Tyler (10:43a): With All About Spelling, we placed an opt-in form to capture new leads. Obtained additional information from prospects in exchange for 20 tips in a free report.
Tyler (10:55a): With customer segmentation (with Tags), obtain pertinent information. There is a ton of different types of data you can collect, you can also set up to 100 custom fields on Web forms.
Brad (11:00a): If you get scared about HTML, no worries. Just hire a webmaster, they do this all the time.
Tyler (11:04a): We are heading into a permission-based e-mail culture. You can’t just go out and send offers. You will get reported for spam. Double-opt-in is highly recommended for all marketers. We urge all clients to setup a double-opt in model.
Tyler (11:06a): Two reasons for double-opt in: Higher deliverability (for free) and permission. If you don’t have permission, you don’t have permission.
Tyler (11:08a): 70% of opt-in recipients will confirm their e-mail and permit you from a Web form. It’s that 30% that is harmful that you don’t want to market to.
Clate (11:09a): The industry is moving toward a double-opt-in requirement. It’s important to make sure your e-mail practices are protecting your personal reputations. It comes down to how you send to your clients.
Tyler (11:15a): Explaining how round-robin assignments work with Web Forms, actions, etc.
Question: Can Infusionsoft run multiple businesses?
Tyler and Brad (11:18a): Yes and no. Yes, it is possible, but you don’t get to do everything. A few problems will come up. Infusionsoft is easy to use for one small business, but not multiple.
Tyler (11:23a): Categorizing your Follow-Up Sequences is incredibly important. One reason is to stop a category of follow-up sequences (like pitches) after the buy. This is beneficial so there is no headache.
Tyler (11:27a): Talking about a good follow-up sequence. Since many people may incorrectly fill out a form, confirm their input again and give them a chance to update it. Incorporating a multi-step and multimedia campaign will increase conversions.
Tyler (11:30a): Showing the internals of how fulfillment reports work in Infusionsoft. Very useful for people who ship products, print things or whatever. (One example of a fulfillment house is MoldingBox.
Tyler (11:36a): Merge Fields are a great way to personalize templates. You can use it contextually and not just to list items. This will improve deliverability, readability and conversion. You can do this right now. Make it personal.
Brad (11:39a): Don’t get caught up into the minutia of Web forms … we recently launched the FuseBox. We have a lot of stuff about Web Forms. A ton of support articles, checklists and videos are available any time you need help.
Brad (11:44a): New: Soon, we will be renaming ‘trackable links’ to something like ‘Action Links’ … to better help users understand what they do. It will be great.
Tyler (11:49a): With trackable links, you can leverage your prospects’ time by providing some additional incentive with helpful e-mails. This can be done by adding and removing different actions/steps within a follow-up sequence. This is helpful for knowing exactly what a contact clicked on, so a sales rep can follow up with “Hey, I saw you read our free report…” to open up dialog.
Question: I talked to my sales rep and he said I went to these places on your site. How the heck did you know that?
Tyler (11:54a): While it can be really helpful to you, you want to be sensitive when going over the information. You need to balance big-brother and knowledge of your customers and prospects. It is actually very good, with a few tips.
Brad (11:58a): I suggest to the “what if’s”… to question “should I” as a small business owner. Once you complete the major, prioritized tasks in your business, then you should move into the nitty-gritty stuff like that Tyler has been doing. (Tyler has been working with our software and Web site for the past 2+ years.)
## We’re almost done. If you have questions, visit the live UStream room and post your question or comment below. ##
Tyler (12:02p): Never delete tags. It is a great source of info on your contacts in your system. You can use this information historically and will allow you to run metrics and benchmarks on your different campaigns dynamically.
Tyler (12:05p): One customer was able to target their client’s specific needs through tags, send a promo and made $20K in a day. Legitimately. That’s why tags matter.
Tyler (12:07p): The key benefit in using the Infusionsoft e-mail client is the ability to have messages connected/linked to contacts. Very useful, easily. Oh, and you can find it easier.
Tyler (12:13p): You’re all invited to come to InfusionCon. It’s like the Marketing Revolution Tour, but gets more hands on into marketing and technical aspects. It’s free and is right here in Scottsdale, AZ. More info here.
