Have you ever wanted to help people out and connect with others in an easy way? I’m sure you have, but all to often we get caught up into the business of our lives. Now is the chance to give back.
There’s a pretty cool grassroots effort with the organization, Twestival, we’re a part of for the second year in a row. Dubbed the biggest fund raising event on Twitter, Twestival helps people connect together and contribute to good causes.
Unlike last year, this year’s Twestival, which lasts 9/10 through 9/13 worldwide, goes long-tail by having individual cities of Twestival donate to the charity of their choice. Last year, all venues of Twestival resulted in donations to the tune of $250,000 to charity:water, which was the first charitable event ever performed on a grand scale on Twitter.
You probably want to know how to get involved. Mashable has a great post detailing how you can participate in Twestival. Whether you attend local events, tell others about it or make donations online at your local events — you can participate! If you Tweet about local Twestival events, include #twestival hashtag in your message. You can also quickly find local Twestival events in your area on Twestival’s main site.
We’re sponsoring our local Twestival event in Phoenix. Locally, we’re working to donate to St. Mary’s Food Bank, a non-profit, non-sectarian organization that gives food to those who need it most. See the blog post on Twestival about our support of TwestivalPhx for more details.
