Earlier this month, I had a chance to spend some time with Perry Marshall. You might know him as the Google AdWords expert. I spent a few moments with him earlier and was able to shoot video of a consultation he provided a client.
I went over to Perry’s house with a couple of his clients to get an inside look at how he consults people. I had the impulse to shoot a video of parts of it, so please forgive the quality and the spontaneous nature of it. I thought it would give you an inside look at Perry Marshall’s expertise with Google AdWords and knowledge of the pay-per-click (PPC) industry on the Web.
A few key points in the videos:
- Go for smaller, more targeted keywords instead of broader ones.
- Deploy strategic landing pages for paid visitors. Promote immediate lead capture.
- Test, test and test again.
His consultations aren’t just brainstorming and taking notes, mind you. He works with you actively on the computer, online, making things happen in real-time. Often, with Internet marketing, we come up with all kinds of good ideas that once we research on the computer are useless because someone else has already done it. So it’s ideal to spend time experimenting, testing and tweaking your marketing campaigns.
Aside from the video, I had a great time with him. He’s one of those guys you can sit down and have a juicy steak with. In fact, we did…
Perry gave us some great unadvertised bonuses by taking us downtown Chicago to the famous Chop House. I had a 16oz Filet Mignon and it was great. Later, Perry took us to the famous Chicago Improv where Mike Meyers, Chris Farley and Tina Fey all got their start. I even volunteered and went up on stage to join the act.
I have been involved in a lot of good thinktanks, round tables and masterminds, but watching Perry literally working on people online businesses and there websites was something that I’ll never forget. Truly Impressive!
