When sending emails from Infusionsoft, many customers (even us) forget about how to style the required postal mailing address and the placement of the opt-out link. Brad Martineau told the marketing team what’s up with our emails not leveraging that feature and this calls for a moment to inform customers how this feature works and why you want to do it.
By default, in an email that Infusionsoft sends, it will look for two types of merge fields: Opt-Out and the CAN-SPAM-compliant Mailing Address. These are actual merge fields, unlike plain-text that you maybe have written into your templates. The benefit is that you have greater flexibility and control of the display as a result of using these fields.
If you don’t include these merge fields, Infusionsoft will automagically place the legally-required opt-out and mailing address in a Times New Roman size 12 font at the bottom of your emails. This is rather ugly for lack of better words. We have your behind covered at all times, so it’s a good thing.
In the video below, Brad walks us through the before and after of using these fields. He’s on a Mac, but anyone can follow along by using their app. I recommend for optimal viewing, click the four arrows for full-screen along the bottom of the video during playback.
Video: How to Make Infusionsoft Emails Pretty
Like I mentioned earlier, we’ve been using our manually-type in address in the bottom of our emails, which causes it to display twice. We’re sorry for the eyesore, but we’re changing our templates onward to include it so they look more clean and professional. It’s a good time for you to jump into your app and make these changes so your messages give the right impression.
