7.9 Million More Reasons to Grow Small Biz.

December 19, 2008 | by Joseph Manna

Today, we secured $7.9 million in Series B funding from our newest investor, vSpring. This is huge because it empowers us to continue to help small businesses grow quickly and profitably. We’re proud to have vSpring join MDV in enabling us to help small business owners and entrepreneurs everywhere.

The excitement and energy here is impressive. To begin, here is the quote from Clate Mask, CEO of Infusionsoft:

“When we started Infusionsoft, we realized that there was no solution geared towards helping the true small business succeed, without adding a lot of overhead. The new financing from vSpring demonstrates both the success we’ve had to date in building a strong software company and our potential to quickly become a recognized market leader. I am especially proud of raising capital despite the negativity that is so pervasive in this economic climate – it’s a testament to our investors’ confidence in our business and the power of the entrepreneurial mindset. In 2009, Infusionsoft will be dedicated to liberating and empowering every growth-oriented entrepreneur and small business that can benefit from automation and always-on marketing.”

And an optimistic outlook comes from vSpring’s managing director, Scott Petty:

“Infusionsoft’s impressive momentum and fiercely loyal customer base clearly shows that their product is adding significant value to small businesses across the country, changing the way small businesses grow. Infusionsoft’s Web-based software helps companies grow their sales without having to hire costly staff, a significant value to small businesses in this economic climate. While other software sectors could see a lag in 2009, we anticipate a strong opportunity for Infusionsoft to continue to gain market share as they help entrepreneurs convert customers and build revenue.”

Finally, a few words from Infusionsoft’s founder and Vice President of Product Management,  Scott Martineau:

We are fired up about the fundraising round, because it’s one more piece of evidence predicting what is to come for entrepreneurship in the near future. While “Corporate America” reacts to the gloom and doom of the current economic climate with sweeping cuts from the boardroom, the New Entrepreneur has no choice but to turn off the 10:00 news and innovate more quickly. Infusionsoft is clearly poised to enable entrepreneurs to automate and systematize their businesses so that the economic climate almost becomes irrelevant.

Again, we’re excited to be able to help out small business owners globally. All of us are incredibly thankful for all of our customers who help make this possible. We do it with tenacity, finesse, ethics and pride. Recently, Clate shared our core values, purpose and overall company philosophy here on the blog, it’s worth checking out.

Here are the folks who are talking about this exciting piece of news:

Congrats to the gang at Infusionsoft. You guys have clearly demonstrated that small businesses have an acute and growing need for marketing automation and CRM in one. You deserve this win–it’s a testament to how hard everyone there works. I’m rooting for you.

I have always said that “It is not the Dollars that Value the company, but the number of people that “Value” the company”. That’s the true measure of confidence. This news is telling you that you have a large number of people that “Value” Infusionsoft and have confidence in your “Purpose”.

P.S. A personal thank you to Kathy Sacks for her obvious impact on your company. Great job, and great product….

Congrats folks. vSpring is great outfit to have involved with your management team and can add more than just money to the mix. One surprise in the comments is the note from Scott about your excitement to help small business owners globally…for some reason I thought you were a U.S. focused company. Maybe this new funding makes it more viable to go after other English speaking countries like Australia, England, etc. In any event, the Series B funding is good to see.

Small Business owners are largely forgotten. Thats why I only focus on them. I have experience several members of my family file bankruptcy due to small business failures. I also I suffered through 2 destroyed businesses due to failure however, in my failings I have learned some of the secrets to success. (Who can say they know it all?)
