We often say ‘entrepreneurs’ and ’small business owners’ when we talk about the segment of folks who run their own business or who create new ways to monetize products, services or experiences. We have one simple question, which will likely ignite a swell of healthy debate — are you a small business owner or an entrepreneur? Take the poll and find out what others think!

For a long time, we have positioned ourselves to become the leader in marketing automation software for small businesses, but so often, we talk about entrepreneurs. It seems that entrepreneurs are left out of the software industry … do entrepreneurs not need software? Or perhaps, we assumed that all entrepreneurs are small business owners. As you might understand, this has caused some lengthy discussions here in the office.
We look to you to help us understand who you are. We would appreciate if you could spare a moment to tell us if you’re an entrepreneur or a small business owner and why. Maybe you’re both, maybe you’re neither. Either way you slice it, we want to know!

Wish there was a simpler, one-word Anglo-Saxon term for the French “entrepreneur,” but in the absence of such I’d have to go for “entrepreneur” instead of “small business owner.”
Atilla,
That’s a good point. I believe Gary Vaynerchuk has a casual term for entrepreneurs: HUSTLE. I regularly hustle and work hard to get results, which is something true entrepreneurs do.
I don’t want to preclude that small business owners aren’t entepreneurs, but it’s a question we ask ourselves. Do we serve entrepreneurs or small business owners? I see that there’s a little entrepreneur in all of us, regardless of responsibilities.
Thanks for your comment and vote. I look forward to more ideas.
