I'm a big proponent of Open Source software (and I dislike that place in Redmond too), and these are terrific programs for getting up and running with a new PC. I use most of them, and recommend OpenOffice and Mozilla (as well as Opera Browser) to everybody. I also have a couple of machines that run Ubuntu, and believe that anybody who tries it will have trouble going back to MS software.
